Hilary Swank
couldn't hold back her emotions when she was honored at the Time for
Peace Film and Music Awards, held at the Hotel Bel-Air in L.A.. Swank
(in Christian Dior) was brought to tears when director Richard
LaGravenese presented her with the award, which is given annually to
artists whose work furthers the ideas of tolerance and understanding.
"It's a reminder that I was able to be a part of a movie that is so
important," Swank said of the distinction, which she received for her
role in the movie Freedom Writers. "It's one of those stories where you learn how one person can make a difference in someone else's life."
